Book your holiday transfer to Ialysos
Ialysos or Trianta , is located 10km from city of Rhodes, at the southwest part of the island. It counts approx. 10,000 permanent residents, occupied mainly in tourism and agriculture.
Keeping the name of the famous ancient city (end of the 5th century), whose ruins are found at a short distance from current settlement, Ialyssos is one of the best places to start exploring the island. Characteristics of this region are the luxurious hotels and unique neoclassic houses with palm trees in the central avenue.
Nearby to modern settlement is situated the archaeological site of ancient Ialyssos, which extends around Filerimos hill, where is the Acropolis with the monuments of Archaic, Byzantine and Knightly periods. Just out of the archaeological site, a stone paved path (it is called "Calvary route") leads to the top of the hill where it is found an impressive cross. From there, you will have the chance to take nice photos or to enjoy the excellent view.
There are abundant facilities for accommodation, shopping, food, drink, entertainment in the tourist resort of Ialyssos. The beach is sandy and partly pebbly, very well organized and the sea is clean. Many umbrellas, sun beds and water games. The sport dominating here is the windsurfing. The beach is so popular and famous to windsurfers that the locals advertise Ialyssos as "the capital city of windsurfing", as every year several local, Panhellenic and European Competitions of windsurfing are organized here, such as the World Champion of Windsurfing in 2007.
Access to the Ialyssos beach from the town of Rhodes is very easy and frequent by public buses, by taxi, as well as by rented or private car, motorbikes and bicycle. Post Office and Medical Center are available.
