Archangelos is the largest in population villages of Island (5,500 residents). It is located at a distance of 28km, in the south part of City of Rhodes and just 3km far from the sea. It was built during the Medieval ages and the residents even today, maintains the traditions alive without being affected by the rapid development of tourism.
By exploring the Archangelos, you will admire the traditional architecture of the region and to visit the Venetian Castle (built in 1320 by the Knights), the church of Archangelou Michael and the local Folk Museum. Nearby the village, at a distance 4km, it is worth visiting the Monastery dedicated to Virgin Mary, which is situated at Tsambika.
Additionally, just 3 km north western to Archangelos, on the top of Koumelos hill, it is situated the homonymous cave, very interesting, both from archeological and speleological sites. Enjoy the sun and beautiful sea on the pebbly beach in Stegna (3km far). It is pretty organized and offers many facilities to the visitors: sun beds, shower, umbrellas and water sports.
